Matt is passionate about supporting charities and doing what he can to highlight their good causes. At the moment he is patron for Grace House Children’s hospital in the North East and the Dartmoor Pony Trust. He is also joint vice president for the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund (MDIRF) and plays in their annual charity polo match.
His love of dogs has lead him to support various animal organisations and he is regularly involved with Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, PAT Dogs and the PDSA.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People was launched at the world famous Crufts Dog Show in 1982. Since then we have continued to train dogs to alert deaf people to specific sounds, whether in the home, workplace or public buildings.

Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal will provide a home from home for very sick children from across the North East, from the Borders to Teesside. It will provide support for their siblings and parents; respite and terminal care; a team of dedicated professionals offering the most up-to-date medical skills and palliative care; support that is geared to the needs of the whole family; physical and emotional - help that will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year…continuing into bereavement for as long as is needed.

The Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) Southern Scotland is a non profit making, voluntary organisation to help the Police and Mountain Rescue Teams search for missing people. Matt donated Corrie, one of Meg's puppies, to SARDA.
